Used Woodworking Tools
In even the most basic carpentry, tools play an exceedingly important role. This is just as important for novice carpenters as it is for woodworking veterans. Regardless of your level of experience, the proper basic carpentry tools will always have a place in your arsenal. And while you may use different types of tools depending on the project in question, there are certain basic carpentry tools that you will find yourself drawn to time and time again.
Before we go into the different types of basic carpentry tools that you will likely find useful, it is so important to make sure that you have a proper working area in which to accomplish your projects. Many people simply use their basement or their garage, and while this should be sufficient, you have to make sure that you get enough ventilation and that there is sufficient light.
It is also worth mentioning that you don't necessarily have to spend for the most expensive tools in the store. There are lots of great deals in used woodworking tools out there, and you should be able to score a few choice pieces if you know where to look. The local classified ads are a good place to start your search, and don't forget the online listings like Craigslist as well.
One common tool that you will find in almost any workshop is the circular power saw. This tool is particularly useful for a variety of purposes, and can save you a lot of time and elbow grease. Between that and a power sander, you can shave several hours off a project that would have taken you considerably longer. In addition, you will sweat a lot less in the process!
If you plan to do a lot of nailing, you may find it worthwhile to invest in a nail gun. Again this will save you a lot of time and effort, and possibly more than a few sore thumbs. If you are quite the expert with nailing however, or would simply like to get better at it, you should be able to make do with a good basic hammer.
A power drill can be considered one of the basic carpentry tools, since it can be used for a variety of purposes aside from the obvious function of drilling holes. It can also be used quite effectively to drive screws home. Of course you will need to have a good set of screwdrivers anyway, but there are certain cases where in a power drill is the better choice.
There are various other basic carpentry tools that aren't really very exciting per se, but are nevertheless essential parts of any toolbox. Tools such as a carpenters protractor, carpentry protractor also called a measuring angles protractor aren't exactly the stuff that many woodworker's dreams are made of, but regardless of what the other tools regularly are used, woodworking tools would be a lot less effective without them.
